HCT UPDATES!

Sunday, May 31, 12 pm – 2:30 pm. Ages – 12 – Adult Join Broadway conductor and University of Michigan professor Jason DeBord for a musical theatre masterclass on acting through song. Registered students and adults will perform prepared material and work one-on-one with Jason while observers learn from the process. Participants should bring a song selection and printed sheet music. The session will focus on vocal performance, lyric interpretation, storytelling, and bringing songs to life with clarity, confidence, and connection.

Join us for an Open House Celebration of Creativity and Community in our KAPA space!

We’re bringing together KCP and HCT for an evening that celebrates our shared theater home and the incredible community that makes it all possible. Come explore the space, meet fellow artists and supporters, and get a behind-the-scenes look at what we do.

This is a chance to connect, collaborate, and celebrate community theater together.

🎭 Rising Stars and Keiki at Play
Ages: 5 – 15

Dates: June 8 – July 16

Times: Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 12 PM

Performance: July 16 at KCC Performing Arts Center!

The program covers the triple-threat skills—singing, dancing, and acting—through classroom sessions, workshops, and personalized coaching.

Are you a teen, age 15 or older, interested in theater? Do you like working with children? Join in on the fun by volunteering to work with our keiki in our 6-week Summer Stars Program! Learn alongside professional educators in dance, singing, acting, make-up, costumes, lighting, sound and more. Work together on our summer productions and help create the magic of theatre!

Deadline to apply: April 30th

You will be contacted for an interview.

Interns are required to:

  • Attend pre-program meetings.
  • Work with program directors as requested in line with job description.
  • Complete intern surveys to rate our programs.
  • Be present on all program days, rehearsals, and performances.
  • Interns also receive:

  • $150 Stipend per Program
  • Letter of recommendation for future employment or schooling.
  • Community service credit hours.
  • Exclusive Intern Master Classes in the performing arts.
  • Recognition dinner and outing.
  • An HCT T-Shirt.
  • Lots of keiki smiles and gratitude.

    Auditions are at the Puhi Theatrical Warehouse 4411 Kikowaena St. Lihue, 96766
    • AGES: 15+
    • Auditions on Saturday, June 6 from 4 pm – 8 pm
    • Dance Auditions on Sunday, June 7 from 2 pm – 4 pm (all auditioners must attend).
    • Invited Callbacks on Sunday, June 7 from 4 pm – 6 pm

    Performances: Thursdays – Sundays | July 30 – August 16 | All performances at 7 pm.

     
    AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS:

    Prepare a song you enjoy singing—any style (ballad, comedy, pop/rock, hip hop, etc.). The priority is that you connect with it and stay true to the story, the character, and/or yourself.

    Length is flexible (30 seconds–2 minutes), or feel free to sing the full song if you’d like. You may sing from the show, but it’s not required.

    No accompanist provided. A computer, Wi-Fi, and speaker will be available. You may also bring your own device. Please have a track ready and know your start and end point. You may also email your track in advance to tajgutierrez00@gmail.com

      An advanced musical theatre workshop for experienced teens.

      (Ages 8 – 15)
      Monday – Saturday • Oct. 5 – 10 • 9 am – 4 pm • Puhi Theatrical Warehouse

      Throughout the week, students will build confidence, creativity, and teamwork—all leading up to a special performance for family and friends at the end of the session.

      No experience needed.

    HCT Private Coaching now Available!

    Young performers can now build skills in singing, acting, and modeling/commercial performance through personalized 1:1 coaching with Jacyn Fain. Sessions are tailored to each child’s goals and designed to be playful, supportive, and confidence-building, with focus areas ranging from vocal technique and scene work to audition skills, confidence on camera, and self-tape technique.

    Full-day summer programming for the theater lover in your
    family!
    AM Program introduces the beginner thespian to the basics of acting, dance, singing and design.
    PM Program introduces the intermediate or advanced student to participating in a full-scale production.

    After Dark

    June – August
    Ages: 15 – 99
    Audition Based
    This program is designed for teens and HCT alumni who have grown through our programs and are ready to take on more complex and mature musical theater material. In an intimate black-box setting, these experienced young actors, designers, and stage technicians work alongside adults and seasoned professionals to explore deeper themes, take creative risks, and elevate their craft. It’s a unique opportunity for advanced students to grow artistically in a collaborative, professional-level environment.

    Mainstage

    August – November
    Ages: 9 – 99
    Audition Based
    This is a full-scale, Broadway-style production where young performers work alongside seasoned adult actors and professional theater staff to create an unforgettable theatrical experience. From expertly crafted sets and costumes to professional direction, choreography, and technical design, every element is held to the highest standard. Audience members can expect nothing less than top-tier, professional-quality theater-among the very best you’ll find on Kaua’i.

    Theatre Academy

    Theatre Academy offers a diverse range of courses tailored for young, aspiring actors at all experience levels. From foundational acting and voice work to movement, improvisation, and audition techniques, our program provides a well-rounded introduction to the world of performing arts. Each class is designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and develop essential performance skills in a supportive and fun environment. Whether your child is stepping onto the stage for the first time or continuing to grow their talent, Theatre Academy is the perfect platform to explore their passion, learn from experienced instructors, and shine both on and off the stage.
