HCT Programs · Teaching Artists
Share Your Craft. Inspire the Next Generation.
Hawaiʻi Children's Theatre invites creative teaching artists — on Kauaʻi and off — to bring classes and intensives to our keiki.
Every HCT class, camp, and intensive is powered by teaching artists — the creative heart of everything we do. Whether you live on Kauaʻi or you're dreaming of teaching on the island, we'd love to hear what you could share with our students.

Two Ways to Teach
Resident & Visiting Teaching Artists
HCT works with two kinds of teaching artists, and welcomes applications for both:
Resident Teaching Artists
Live on Kauaʻi and teach with us throughout the year. Resident artists form the core of HCT Academy's faculty — teaching weekly classes, camps, and intensives season after season, and growing alongside our students.
Visiting Teaching Artists
Join us from off-island for a weeklong or one-day intensive. We have housing available for visiting artists on select dates (to be announced) — reach out and let's find a window that works.
Formats
Weekly Classes, Weeklong & One-Day Intensives
You choose the shape of your offering — we'll help you fit it into the season:
Weekly Class
A recurring class with the same group of students over a season — the backbone of HCT Academy.
Weeklong Intensive
A deep dive over school breaks or summer — one subject, five days, big growth.
One-Day Intensive
A single-day workshop or masterclass — a powerful way to try out teaching with HCT.
How Payment Works
Enrollment-Based Pay, Explained Simply
We keep payment simple and transparent, so you always know what to expect before you commit:
- ✦ Propose your class — subject, format, ages, dates, and tuition are agreed together up front.
- ✦ We add your class to our roster and open registration.
- ✦ If enrollment meets our minimum threshold, your class runs and you're paid per the agreed terms.
- ✦ If the class doesn't fill, we cancel it and — per our cancellation policy — no payment is made.
Scheduling & Venues
Venue Availability & Costs
Our home venue is the Puhi Theatrical Warehouse. When it isn't available at the time you want to teach, we have to rent a separate venue — which adds to our costs and can affect what we're able to offer. Flexible scheduling helps us keep your class viable, and we'll always confirm the venue with you before your class is listed.
What We Ask
Our Mission & Your Commitment
We invite everyone to apply, as long as you understand and support our mission: inspiring youth through the study, performance and appreciation of the theater arts. Classes must be safe, supportive, and age-appropriate — every instructor is background-checked — and we ask that you understand our cancellation policy up front: if a class doesn't meet its enrollment threshold, it's cancelled without payment.
Applications are opening soon — check back here for details.
